The U.S. Geological Survey measured the quake at 6.0, while the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) put it at 6.1.

9 f% S! G2 e# ^' d' JLocal seismologist Ismael Narag said the quake generated enough potential power to unleash big waves, but added that the authorities did not think it was capable of triggering a tsunami so Phivolcs issued no warning.
