1. The programming steps to get a planet’s position
To compute a celestial body
or point with SWISSEPH, you have to do the following steps (use swetest.c as an example). The details of the functions will be explained in the following chapters.

1.
Set the directory path of the ephemeris files, e.g.:

swe_set_ephe_path(”C:\\SWEPH\\EPHE”);

From the birth date, compute the Julian day number:

Compute a planet or other bodies:

Note:

The functions swe_calc_ut() and swe_fixstar_ut() were introduced with Swisseph version 1.60.

If you use a Swisseph version older than 1.60 or if you want to work with Ephemeris Time, you have to proceed as follows instead:

First, if necessary, convert Universal Time (UT) to Ephemeris Time (ET):

jul_day_ET = jul_day_UT + swe_deltat(jul_day_UT);

Then Compute a planet or other bodies:

ret_flag = swe_calc(jul_day_ET, planet_no, flag, lon_lat_rad, err_msg);

or a fixed star:

Timing Solutions Advanced August 2008 Release
I remember attending first in my life seminar on trading and technical analysis. It was held by the representatives of one famous international software producer that sells packages for traders and investors. I have anticipated so much... And I have been a bit confused there. The lecturer said to us something like this: "Trading is easy; buy when the price is low and sell when the price is high". Somebody from the public asked: "How do we know whether it is high or low?" The lecturer looked uncomfortable with the question. He planned to tell us about the beauty of moving averages and other smart indicators of technical analysis, Fibonacci levels, trend lines, etc. Sure that all these techniques give us a lot of useful hints regarding the future price movement; however the main question of how to find out what the future price movement will be is still unclear. Thousands of hints provided by technical analysis can not substitute the main question: "When the high (low) of the market will occur?".
Timing Solution software is totally oriented to answer this main question for trader. We do not invent more and more technical analysis indicators; this way has been already followed by many. We do the modeling of the stock market behavior based on state-of-the-art math methods, our own observations and analysis of the knowledge gathered by others. Here we explain how we do this.
Timing Solution consists of two major modules: a) math based models (like spectrum, auto regression); b) astronomy/astrology based models.

Let us briefly look at the modules of the program.

Starting with the simplest

If you are a very busy person or simply do not like going into the depths of sophisticated math methods that lie behind the procedure of making the projection line, you may avoid it using a kind of "One button" solution. There is a set of ready solutions in the program that allows to generate projection lines based on fixed cycles, astronomical cycles and other models. You will have to download the price history of your stock/futures/index, click the "Solutions" button, choose there one of those ready solutions. In a couple of minutes you will get a projection line ready to use:

This is all that you have to do. However, it is not that simple for the program. While running your chosen solution, the program will conduct several thousands of operations that include very sophisticated math.
As an example, one of the solutions that you may choose consists of 37 models to forecast any financial instrument. The program creates and analyses 37 projection lines and defines three models that have provided the best forecast during the last 3 months. This solution is one of the favorites of TradeStation users.

Going into depth

If you would like to control the process of the projection line creation in any manner, you will have to learn how other modules of the program work,
These modules are build around 3 core concepts. Here they are:
1) It is possible to create a projection line for stocks/futures/indexes because the market movement is a natural process.
2) Natural processes have a cyclical nature. In other words, they repeat themselves. Knowing the cycles of the past and the laws governing them in the past, we can make assumptions regarding the future.
These two concepts form the main idea of Timing Solution software: find the cycle and create a projection line.
Now, what kind of cycles do we use? This is our third concept:
3) We deal with two types of cycles: regular ones (based on TIME idea, like 30-minutes cycle, 3-day cycle, 1.5-year cycle) and astronomy based cycles (cycles based on SPACE idea, they consider planetary orbits; like Jupiter cycle, the cycle of the angle between the Sun and the Moon, etc.).
All modules of the program work with both types of cycles.

Modules of the program

As you have guessed already, Timing Solution software goes from simplicity to complexity. You could start with ready solutions ("Solutions" button, described above); or you could create your own projection line using other modules of the program. Let us look at them.
Start with Easy Cycle module (there you can draw cycles and combine them manually) and then go through other modules - till the most complicated one, Back Testing module (it allows to find the best ready solution for any financial instrument).
In Easy Cycle module you simply draw these cycles dragging the mouse from one characteristic point of the price chart to another. You can combine these cycles superposing cycles with different periods:

When you become comfortable with Easy Cycle module, do the next step: try to work with Spectrum + Neural Network modules. There the program will perform tons of necessary calculations extracting cycles within your data set, analyzing them and deciding what cycles are strong and what cycles are weak. This job is done by the Spectrum module. As the result, you get the "Cycles portrait" of your financial instrument; the peaks on it correspond to the strongest cycles:

Then our Neural Net "cooks" the ready-to-use projection line from these cycles:

These two modules are semi-automated. It means that you can rely on the program's default settings or you may define the involved parameters yourself (manually).
I would like to mention here our 'know-how", a special algorithm applied in the Spectrum module. This algorithm is specially developed for financial data where the noisy effects are pretty strong. It is the result of combined efforts of professional traders and professional mathematicians. We call it multiframe algorithm, and it allows to reveal the short term cycles very precisely (which is very important for trading).

Astronomy/Astrology module works with the cycles that are tied up to planetary positions (including the star of the Sun and the Earth's satellite the Moon). We recommend to start with the well-known Annual cycle that is actually the Sun cycle. Even if you do not believe in Astrology, you will be surprised how well other planetary cycles (like synodic cycles) may affect the market.

It is possible to find the most reliable Annual pattern; we do it by calculating the Annual cycles on three independent pieces of the available price history:

There are other astro cycles as well. They are not that well known as the Annual cycle though they are very close to it and some

s are much more powerful. For example, for GBP/USD rates, the Venus synodic cycle is important. This is how this cycle works in time:

We can make the angular "portrait" of this cycle; it is called a composite diagram. In this case, it shows how the angle between Venus and the Earth in heliocentric coordinates (i.e., Venus syndic cycle) affects the GBP/USD rate:
