Beijing Automotive Excluded From Opel Bid, Leaving RHJ, Magna
Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co. has been excluded from bidding for General Motors Co.’s Opel unit in Europe after the U.S. carmaker and the German government put their weight behind the two other suitors.

GM as they vaunt competing support for the remaining bidders. Merkel’s coalition prefers Magna’s bid after a “thorough analysis” of final offers received July 20, said Ulrich Wilhelm, the chief government spokesman, yesterday.
Brodkorb didn’t say why BAIC was rejected. The Chinese carmaker offered 660 million euros ($938.6 million) for a 51 percent stake in Opel, leaving GM with 49 percent. BAIC’s offer calls for 2.64 billion euros in government loan guarantees.
